A Simple Fall Garland

As you saw yesterday I have been thoroughly enjoying decorating for Fall over the last few days. After making my fall wreath I had extra flowers, and I wanted to use them rather than putting them in another one of my craft boxes to never be used again. I decided I wanted to try a little something different with these flowers. So, I ripped all the petals off there stems and started to sew strands of them together. Simple enough, but I absolutely loved the result.

here is what you will need:
fake flowers (leftovers work great)
thread
sewing machine

Fall is Here

Fall is probably my favorite season, well I love Spring too. Let's just say they are in head to head to battle, and it depends on my current mood which one comes out the victor. Fall is currently winning. I have been wanting to decorate for Fall for the last month and just haven't found the time until this last weekend. I put all my decorations that I had up, added a few additions, and bought a pumpkin spice candle to complete the ambiance(I feel so fancy using that word LOL). My tiny little apartment feels even more homey with Fall decorations. Needless to say I am loving spending time in my newly Fall decorated apartment.

A Simple Wreath Tutorial

Marshall and I have recently been putting together a new wall collage. I have been really liking it, but have wanted to add some color. So I decided to make a mini floral wreath and I'm in LOVE with it! We still have a few things we need to add, but I am loving this new addition . Here is an ultra simple tutorial for ya! Enjoy!

^^ wreath, flowers/greenery, glue gun ^^

^^ Lay out your flowers/greenery so you have an idea of where you want everything. ^^

It's all about the Antlers

Marshall has been wanting to do a project with antlers for awhile now, we just didn't have antlers. Are really good friend from Montana so kindly donated one of his family's several antlers to us. We are so thankful Matt and Megan, you guys are the best! So, Marshall got to work. I was going to try and make a tutorial but it just didn't quite happen. Here are the results though, I think it turned out pretty dang good. I was a little nervous about the tribal paint, but I let Marshall go for it and I am so glad that I did. It all just looks so good. He seriously did this whole thing himself. I really wish that I could say I had some influence but that would be a lie. Now we just need to figure out where exactly we are going to put it. We are open to suggestions.

A Hidden Treasure

Marshall and I have been in major project mode lately. I mean seriously it has almost turned into an addiction. The other night I was looking at the our counter top and I realized that there was wood underneath all the nasty dark brown paint that was chipping everywhere! I'm lucky it all worked out cause without thinking I just started scraping the paint off our counter top like a mad woman. I think Marshall was a little concerned, but it was a already a little to late to stop me. He had to leave for work pretty soon after I started, and when he came home eight hours later we had a completely new wood counter top! It took almost the whole eight hours to scrape and clean off all that paint, but it was completely worth it. The best part of the whole things was that it didn't cost us anything! We are just so in love with it , and it just completely opens up our apartment. If any of you are thinking of projects to do my advice would be to just go for it!

Valentines Day Garland Tutorial

It is crazy to me that soon enough it will be the middle of January, then February, and finally Valentines Day. Time just flies by sometimes. I have never been a big Valentines Day person, but since being married it has slowly grown on me a little bit. I do love being spoiled though, and  Valentines Day is all about being spoiled and spoiling LOL. I guess its about love too and love is a really good thing.  I have just really been obsessed with door decorations lately whether  its a wreath, garland, simple hanging, or what not. So, I decided to make a garland for Valentines Day this year. It is really simple, but I absolutely love it. I hope you guys do too.

Valentines Day Garland

Here's What you'll need:
-felt (colors of your choice)
-an old book or sheet music
- a sharpie or pen
- scissors
-thread
-sewing machine

Step One: Either draw, print, or trace the shape of a heart, and cut out to trace.

Step Two: Using the sharpie or pen trace the heart onto the felt and pages from the old book.

Step Three: Cut out all of the hearts. Be sure to stay just inside the sharpie or pen line so it is not visible.

Step Four: Starting 1/3 down for the top of the heart sew across the heart with sewing
machine slowly adding one heart at a time(I did a pattern, but random or one solid color work too).

Step Five: Hang your garland, and enjoy the view!

Oh Christmas

Marshall and I have been anticipating putting up our Christmas Decorations for about the last month and a half. Yes, we are one of those people who do not give Thanksgiving all the attention it deserves(or think it deserves). It was so much fun putting up our tree together while we listened to Christmas music and drank eggnog. There is just something magical about Christmas, and is truly the best time of the year!

Our Apartment

We have been in our apartment for about a year now, and I think we have drastically changed it. For months we have had friends and family asking for pictures of it and we finally got to it today. As we were taking pictures I realized that I have completely fallen in love with our tiny(425 square foot), old, somewhat falling apart apartment. It is our first apartment, and I am so happy that we will get a couple more years in it together.

The Pillow Debate

First off, I absolutely love pillows.I don't think there is any such thing as too many pillows. Marshall on the other hand likes to sleep with them, but besides that just thinks they are a nuisance he has to move every time he sits on the couch. We have had this discussion about pillows far too many times. Moving on though I have been wanting new pillows for awhile, and bought the fabric a couple of months ago and finally got around to it. I just think they add so much to the room, they are definitely far more than a nuisance to be moved LOL.

Life Is Busy

Lately life has been a little bit busier than I want, but that's how it goes for most everyone most of the time. Then when I do have free time all I want to do is lay on the couch lol. So I really can't complain about not getting things done. I have what feels like a never ending list of crafts/sewing projects I want to do, and I want them all done now:) I didn't get them all done, but I did get one done. Yay for me(yes i am my own personal cheerleader)! Best of all I am truly in love with it!
