Kade's Birth Story

I was about 39 weeks pregnant on April 11th, 2015 when I woke up having very mild consistent contractions. It was a Saturday and I had gotten up around 7 AM as usual because sleeping in was something that happened very seldom at this point in pregnancy. I thought it might be contractions but didn't want get myself over excited if it wasn't. I called my Mom and talked to her about what contractions felt like again for the 100th time(I called her a lot the last month of pregnancy). I then called the hospital to tell them what was happening, and asked what I should do if they continued or progressed. They told me to go about my day as normal, and to be patient. I then decided to take a shower and get ready for the day to keep myself busy and not focus on whether or not this was really happening.

Marshall and I then headed out the door to go grocery shopping for the week. We headed to Sam's Club. I went and got the few things that we needed while Marshall got us hot dogs for lunch. We got through the store and checked out. While Marshall was finishing loading up the car I took the cart back when I all of sudden I felt a huge gush of warm liquid run down my legs. I instantly yelled for Marshall. I started to walk back over to the car when another huge gush started running down my legs. I just looked at Marshall and started crying and said frantically "my water broke!". Luckily we had some blankets and stuff in the car for me to sit on. We got in the car, and Marshall helped me calm down so I could call the hospital. I called the hospital, and they told me to go home and get my things together then to head on over. We went home and Marshall packed the car while I changed and got a little bit cleaned up. We then headed to the hospital. I had decided to still deliver at Madison Memorial Hospital even though we moved to Idaho Falls because I didn't want to switch doctors. So we had a half hour drive. At this point my contractions hadn't been to bad, but on the way to the hospital they started to get a little more intense. I was starting to have to focus on being calm and breathing through them when they hit.

We got to the hospital around 1 PM, and I expected there to be tons of women having babies because it was in Rexburg, but I was only their second person admitted that day. It was nice and calm, and they got me all hooked up and ready to go. The nurse checked me and said that my doctor wanted me to be a tiny bit more dilated before I could have my epidermal. They then started me on pitocin and within twenty minutes they called for the anesthesiologists. Within the 30 minutes it took for him to come I had gone from a 5 to an 9 and I was feeling it. I was having my contractions in my back and I wanted the drugs, and I wanted them now. Marshall and the nurse applied pressure on my lower back to help counter act the pain but it was still rough. Then the anesthesiologists gave me my epidermal and everything was right in the world again. I think I told the anesthesiologists that I loved him multiple times.

Within another 30 minutes I was at a 10, but the babies head was turned and we needed to wait for him to come down a bit. I took about an hour long nap, and then started to push. The nurse and doctor told me to expect to push between an hour and half to three hours because it was my first. That seemed like forever when they told me. We then started to push, and Marshall helped me count and kept track of my contractions on the monitor. Marshall was amazing throughout the entire thing. He was so calm and supportive(without being too supportive and annoying), and helped in all the right ways. Two hours later Kade Linford Morrison was born at 8:40 PM weighing in at 7 lbs and 9 ounces and 21 inches in length. When they layed him on my chest I have never been so overwhelmed with love in my entire life. It was so instant and strong.

We love you Kade!

Glacier National Park

Over Labor Day Weekend Marshall and I camped at Glacier National Park. I have seen pictures and heard people talk about how beautiful it is and let me tell you there is nothing like experiencing it. I have never been anywhere so beautiful. Our campground was right on Lake McDonald which has some of the most blue water I have ever seen. We drove the Driving-To-The-Sun Road and it was the most amazing 40 miles I have ever driven. I could go on and on about everything and how beautiful it all was, but then we would have a book and not a blog post. If you ever have the opportunity to go to Glacier National Park do! It is amazing!

Hiking Table Rock

As summer is coming to and end I am finally getting around to blogging about some of our adventures. In July we hiked Table Mountain in the Tetons. And, yeah it was definitely a hike. It was 14 miles round trip, and the hardest and most rewarding thing I have done physically. The Tetons are absolutely beautiful though. The whole hike up to the summit was amazing(the pictures speak for themselves). I hope that if we stay in Idaho we can make hiking Table Mountain an annual adventure.

A Little Getaway

Today, when I started to write this post I came to the sad realization that it has been about 6 months since I last blogged. I could try to list every excuse in the book from I have been crazy busy to there have been a lot of changes in our lives, but those don't change the fact that I didn't blog. I am going to try to rededicate myself to blog more regularly. Fingers crossed I can stay dedicated.

Now on to our getaway. For the past few years, Marshall and I have gone to Washington to visit family in-between semester, but this year with my new job I didn't feel comfortable leaving for that long. We were both in desperate need of some down time, even if it was just a few days. We also used Marshall's birthday being this week as a good excuse to spoil ourselves for a few days. We thought that Park City would hit the spot, and did it ever! Marshall and I had only both been to Park City once before, and they were very short trips, so it was like our first time there for both of us. We stayed in Marriott Mountainside Resort and it was awesome. We are lucky enough that Marshall has a really good friend who works for Marriott and he always hooks us up with great deals. We spent every afternoon and night by the pool or in one of the several hot tubs, roasted marshmallows over the fire pits, slept in every morning in one of the most comfortable beds ever, and enjoyed every second we spent at the resort.

We also ate our body weight in food. Park City has so many amazing restaurants it made it really  hard to pick where to go. We had some incredible thin crust pizza at Maxwells and some amazing speciality dishes at Bistro. The dishes at Bistro might have been some of the best food my mouth has encountered. My mouth is starting to water as we speak.

I absolutely love walking around downtown with cute little shops everywhere in any city, but Park City has to have one of the best! It was so fun to go into all the stores and get a feel for the city. This was probably one of my favorite things we did while in Park City.

Neither Marshall or I are into snowboarding or anything to do with snow for that matter.  However, we did get our adventure on with the Alpine Coaster. Its a toboggan style car that carries you to the top of the mountain then sends you down with lots of twists and turns. It was awesome and a way to have fun in the snow without having to get in the snow. Just the way we like it.

On the way home we stopped in Salt Lake to hit up some of our favorite stores and go to Temple Square. I had never been to Temple Square during Spring before and it was beautiful. There were flowers and blossoms everywhere. It was so pretty and distracting, we were not very good about taking pictures. It was a good way to end our trip before our drive home back to reality.

Birthdays, Randoms, and Marriage

As most of you all know if you read my blog, are friends with Marshall on facebook, follow of any Marshall's social media accounts, or have met and talked with him for more than two minutes he loves the Bulls and he loves loves loves Derrick Rose. Derrick's birthday was the beginning of this month, and last year Marshall begged for the two of us to celebrate his birthday and we did so now I guess it is tradition because we did this year as well. Last year we made red velvet cinnamon rolls(obviously because they look like Roses and are red for the Bulls), but this year Marshall wanted something a little bit more traditional Triple Chocolate Cake(Marshall calls is Holy Jesus Experience). So I made cake and we celebrated Derrick Rose's 25th birthday. Now I know to some of you this may sound so absurd or crazy, but I think its little things like this that make marriages and relationship awesome. Did I know really anything about basketball, the Bulls, or Derrick Rose before I met Marshall. No, I most certainly did not but its important to him, and so I respect that in his life and listen. Marriage and relationships are all about give and take. Marshall didn't know anything about sewing, crafts, the Kardashians or cooking before he met me, and now he does because he knows its important to me. I have always known that marriage and relationships are about working with and respecting each other, but I guess that I'm realizing its the little things that make it that much better like me making a cake once a year to celebrate an important day for Marshall, or Marshall giving his opinion about the dress I'm sewing or who just got kicked off of Project Runway. Happy belated birthday Derrick Rose and Happy relationships to everyone!

A Hidden Talent

Marshall has quite the long list of favorite sports team, and one of the latest additions is the Montana Grizzlies football team. Marshall really likes classic teams who are all about tradition, and Montana is all about tradition. Every year the Griz honors the best defensive player that is from Montana with the number 37, and for the last two years Jordan Tripp has been honored with the number. Jordan Tripp is one of Marshall's favorite players of the team, and he decided to draw a picture of him one night. Marshall has always loved to draw, and just gets better and better with time. A lot of people don't know that Marshall is an amazing artist and I have always considered it one of his hidden talents. When Marshall got done drawing the picture of Jordan Tripp he put it on instagram and tagged Jordan Tripp in it not expecting any sort of response or communication. Then in the words of Marshall "his whole life was made!" Jordan Tripp not only respond to the drawing, but reposted it on his instagram and facebook, and praised Marshall for his amazing art.  Then to top it off Trumaine Johnson, a starting defensive back for the Saint Louis Rams and former Griz player, commented and liked Marshall's drawing. I'm glad that someone besides me recognized and enjoyed Marshall's art. So proud of my hubs!

Dinosaurs

Yes, my husband is a big kid at heart. He loves dinosaurs! He has always loved dinosaurs and he always will. We got to go to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point this last weekend, and to say the least it was a blast. I thought Marshall was going to jump for joy when he saw the T-Rex. It is pretty amazing how much scientist and paleontologists know about Dinosaurs and life that existed 25 million years ago. It was a fun day. Now get ready for pictures galore LOL.
